Obituary of Robin Brent Smith
Robin (Rob) Brent Smith, late of Regina, SK, passed away quietly on Wednesday, June 13, 2018 at the age of 52 years, following a brief but courageous battle with cancer. He was predeceased by his father, Ernest F. Smith. He will be sadly missed by his mother Joyce, his sister Colleen (Darren) and their children Nathan (Olivia) and Megan (Paul).
Rob was born in Saskatoon. The family moved to Regina and later on to Prince Albert, where he spent most of his early childhood. He enjoyed summers of swimming, boating and fishing in northern lakes such as Candle and Waskesiu. He worked for the hospitality industry in Banff, Jasper and Kananaskis for several years, and he enjoyed hiking through the scenic beauty of the Rockies. He attended the chef program at SIAST in Moose Jaw, but he had to drop out due to illness. Rob was a quiet, independent soul who enjoyed rock music, collecting coins, dabbling with computers and treasure-hunting at garage sales. His rescue dog Sophie was his constant companion.
The last five months of his life were even more difficult after he was diagnosed with lung cancer. However, during his time at Wascana Rehab, he never let his family or his compassionate nurses and doctors forget who was really in charge.
A Come and Go Celebration of Life will be held at from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. on Saturday, June 23, 2018 at Broadway United Church, 105 Broadway Ave., Regina, SK. Flowers are most gratefully declined. Donations in memoriam may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society or Crohn’s and Colitis Canada.
In Loving Memory
Robin Smith
