Obituary of Cora Marcella Cave
CAVE, Cora Marcella
Cora passed away on April 2, 2018 at the age of 90 years. Born on August 20, 1927 in Bures, SK to Inga Dahlen and Austin Grant Beers, Cora was born in a farm house at harvest time without the benefit of a doctor. Harvest time was not a good time to have a baby. Her parents moved to the Amulet and Pangman Area where she attended schools. Cora grew up in the depression and war years so she was no stranger to hard work. She learned to ride horses at an early age and never lost her love of horses. Growing up in the country Cora was always trying to tame some wild animal. She had a pet crow that talked and a pet skunk. After high school in Pangman, Cora went to work at Fort San near Fort Qu’Appelle, in 1948 Cora moved to Vancouver, B.C. to live with her estranged father Austin. She was employed at the T.B. Clinic in Vancouver General Hospital until her marriage to John Cave in 1951. A daughter Jacqueline was born there in 1952. They moved to Regina, SK in 1953. Jack was employed with the Regina Fire Department until retirement at which time they moved to White Rock, B.C. for a short time. In 2002, they purchased a cottage at Echo Lake. After a failing heart and old age they were forced to spend time with daughter Jo-Ann in Regina, SK. Being a very artistic person, Cora’s hands were never idle; sewing, embroidering or painting pictures. Cora loved to cook and prided herself on making everything from scratch. Cora gave our family unconditional love. She thought we all should have a good education meaning university degrees and she promised to pay for it. She also thought we should have a good driver’s license at age 16 and a nice car to go with it. Mom sacrificed much to give us children a good life. Thanks so much mom! Cora is survived by her husband Jack; daughters Jo-Ann and Dr. Cathy Cave; grandson Chris Cave. She was predeceased by daughter Jacqueline M. Cave in 1966; parents Austin and Inga Beers. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Regina Humane Socitey. As per Cora’s wishes, Cora will be buried beside her daughter Jackie in Regina, SK. A special thank you to Dr. Eric Leung, and Dr. Jarol Boan and the nursing staff on 3F at RGH for their compassionate care in mom’s final hours. Celebration of Life will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Friday, April 6, 2018 at the Serbian Club Banquet Hall, 2775 Avonhurst Dr., Regina, SK.
