Russon, Eleanor Mary

Eleanor passed away peacefully on February 27, 2018 at Pioneer Village in Regina, SK. She was predeceased by her brother Lionel; son Bill and former husband Gordon. Eleanor is survived by her daughters Anne, Ellen and Irene; her son John and his family Shannon and Theo. Eleanor was born in North Sydney, NS to her mother Lily (nee Harrison) and father Solomon Hodder. As a young woman she taught school in Port Burwell, ONT. In 1946, she married Gordon Russon and they moved to Regina where he practised medicine and they raised five children. In her forties, Eleanor took up employment at the Regina Central Library where she worked for twenty years. In her free time she enjoyed her pets, her garden, and her friends. She also loved biking, bowling, reading and travelling, especially to England. In advanced age, Eleanor lived at Pioneer Village where she excelled in painting, dancing, knitting, and playing cards. Eleanor loved people and will be sorely missed by many. Her family is grateful to her physicians, companions, friends and caring staff who saw her faithfully through her final years. A Memorial Service will be held at 10:00 a.m., on Friday, March 9, 2018 in the Pioneer Village Chapel on the main floor, 430 Pioneer Dr., Regina, SK.
