Barry Kenneth Purdue

Barry passed away on Saturday, February 24, 2018 surrounded by his family at the age of 67 years. He will be missed by his loving wife Marcella; sons, Ryan (Lindsay), Scott (Colleen); and grandchildren Loegen, Kendyl, Rylin and Declan. Also Left to cherish his memory is his mother, Julia; brothers Dennis (Julie), Keith (JoAnn); sister Judy and sister-in-law Sharon (Joe Scott); brothers in law, Dennis (Adele), Max, Gerald (Sherry); sisters in law Pat, Shirley (John), as well as numerous other family. He was predeceased by his father Kenneth and brother Lyle. Barry had humour, charm and was very sociable. His hobby was buying and selling LOTS of cars and boats. His favorite place was his cottage at Katepwa Beach where he enjoyed entertaining family and friends. Barry’s motto was “A bad day at the beach was better than a good day in the city.” Barry was proud of his sons and was their biggest fan. He went to all Scott’s sporting events and followed Ryan’s band. Barry was also proud of his grandson Loegen’s musical accomplishments and loved spending time with his younger grandchildren. Barry won his fight against colon cancer. He faced both surgeries and treatments with resilience, bravery and never complained. For the past few years Barry struggled against Alzheimer’s. Our appreciation and gratitude to the staff at Pioneer Village 4W, and the ER and MSU teams at the Pasqua Hospital for the excellent and compassionate care they gave Barry. As per Barry’s request, no formal funeral will be held and a family celebration of his life will be held at a later date. Donations in Barry’s memory can be made to the Alzheimer’s Society and the Canadian Cancer Society. To leave an online message of condolence please visit www.paragonfuneralservices.com
