Obituary of Lorraine Winnifred Boyko
Lorraine Boyko (nee Patton) passed away peacefully at the age of 86 on Wednesday, November 20, 2024. Born September 1, 1938 in Aylesbury, SK, she was the only child of Marjorie and Lloyd Patton. Lorraine grew up on the family farm and always spoke fondly of her childhood there. After high school, she trained at the Grey Nuns Hospital to become a nurse and went on to work at hospitals in Calgary, AB and Burlington, ON. Lorraine later spent the majority of her career as a lab technologist at the Saskatchewan Provincial Lab while raising three boys.
Lorraine will be lovingly remembered for her big and witty personality, great sense of humour, and her kind, generous spirit. She is survived by her sons Darrin (Julie Sperber) Boyko, Kevin (Gail Boyle) Boyko, and Shawn (Charlene) Patton; and several grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Over the past decade, dementia gradually robbed Lorraine of her independence, her memory and her body. Lorraine’s family is grateful beyond measure for the seven and a half years of love and care given to her by Suzan and the staff at Parliament Place Care Home in Regina, and to the doctors and nurses at Pasqua Hospital in Wards 4A and 3A where Lorraine spent her final days. The family would also like to thank the staff at Paragon Funeral and Cremation Services for their respectful and attentive support and guidance.
At Lorraine’s request, there will be no funeral service. She will be laid to rest next to her parents at the Aylesbury Cemetery with interment of her ashes in a private family gathering at a later date.
In Loving Memory
Lorraine Boyko
