Obituary of Mary Anne Noname

Please share a memory of Mary to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.

It is with great sadness we announce the sudden passing of our beloved mother, Kokum, great-Kokum and sister on Tuesday, February 14, 2023 at 87 years.

Mary will be lovingly remembered by her son Marvin; daughters Lorraine, Diane and Wanda; and sister Beatrice Moosemae. She was predeceased by her husband Lawrence Noname; children Faron, Laura, Barry, Dale and Charlene; grandchildren Jennifer, Tara and Franny; great-grandchildren Tristan, Suneagle, Shina and Chreesha; mother Bertha Bunny; brothers Victor, Emile and Ernest Whitequill; and sister Lillian Moosemae; special grandson Kyle Noname; all Taypotat, Lavallee and Whitequill families from Broadview; nieces Wanda, Karen and Diane from Winnipeg; Marlene Wolfe family of Muskawekwan First Nation; special niece Sharon Hotomanie; as well as numerous other relatives and friends.

Mary lived a humble life. She held fond memories of growing up. Mary was a hard-working woman, always helping out in many ways. She loved cooking, travelling, and going to cultural events (ie. powwows, round dances and ceremonies). Mary loved bingo so much and had talents in sewing, beading, crocheting and cooking. Mom loved all kinds of clothing and jewelry.

All those that entered Mary’s home and were around her at a family gathering experienced her humour, laughter, positivity, kindness and famous cooking. Mary acknowledged the Cree language and was very fond of her native culture.

The family thanks all that shared in her life. We would like to say thank you to the Extendicare Parkside Care home for their love and care while she was there. Also, thanks to Pasqua Hospital doctors and nurses of MSU
