Please share a memory of Lana to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.

Lana Leslie Ruecker passed away on Saturday, December 17, 2022 with her family by her side at the age of 72. Lana leaves behind her children Lynell (Aron) Streifel; Richelle Ruecker (Trevor Cook); Rayelle Ruecker (Jason Dueck), Shaye Ruecker (Stephanie Cyca); eight grandchildren, Brady and Ashton Streifel, Austin, Ethan, Payton and Jase Ruecker, and Alana and Aleah Dueck; brother Jack (Cheryl) Stroh; brother in-law Ray (Alma) Ruecker; sisters-in-law Debbie (Lorne) Ferguson and Michele (Gerry) Klotz; brother-in-law Doug Deegan; as well as many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Lana is preceded in death by her parents John and Freda Stroh; loving husband Reg Ruecker; brother Barry Stroh; sister Sherry (Gary) Klein; and sister in-law Sharon Deegan.

Lana was born on September 12, 1950 in Regina, Saskatchewan. She graduated from Scott Collegiate in 1969 and completed her secretarial certificate shortly after. Lana met the love of her life, Reg Ruecker and they were married on September 4, 1970. As they started their family, Lana started her own business at home so she could be home full time for her family.

For those who knew Lana - she had the biggest heart, and her family meant the world to her. She was a fierce Mama bear who protected her family at any cost. Lana was so proud of her children and grandchildren. She was a full-time grandma and was very involved with her grandchildren including watching ball games, taxiing all the kids from pre-k, right up to high school, and a few paper routes with her grandsons. She lived across the street from the majority of her grandchildren. She was an important daily figure in their lives.

Lana lived a life of constant chaos, renovations, and procrastination, but that is how she functioned best. Her door was always open to those that needed her. Lana was a great mother, grandmother, and friend. There are sure to be many people who have fond memories of bowling with their second family, nights of playing cards and holidays including their famous Boxing Day. She will be missed dearly by all who knew her.

A special thank you to the SICU at the General Hospital for taking such great care of her in her final days and to McMurchy Care Home for the care they provided when she needed full time care.
