I live down the street from Jean's home and years ago, word got around that if you needed a bike fixed, Jean was doing so out of his garage. Over the years I got to know Jean through little visits when taking over a bike...or lawn mower or rototiller...for Jean to fix. He was friendly and interesting to talk to. And he could fix anything. I also always admired that he was a dedicated gardener, growing food instead of grass along the south side of his house and starting the greens early, behind glass. He inspired me to do more of that in my own yard. I will certainly miss Jean's familiar presence when walking by.... and his friendly wave and "hello". I extend my sincere condolences to Jean's family.
