Obituary of Phyllis Elsie Brandow

Phyllis Elsie Brandow Phyllis passed away peacefully on January 2, 2016 at the age of 92. Phyllis, daughter of Fanny and Louis Ross, was born on May 4, 1923, and raised on the family homestead near Prince Albert. She completed her grade 12 and a secretarial course in P.A. and then worked for a law firm for a few years. In 1943, she joined her older sister, Mollie, in Ontario; they worked in munitions factories in Toronto and later Hamilton. In 1946, she married Larry Brandow; they raised their three daughters in Weyburn and Winnipeg. In 1973, they moved to Chilliwack; in 2004, Phyllis came to Regina. In every place Phyllis lived, she made lifelong friends. Phyllis lived every day with grace and kindness. She was a warm, gentle and selfless lady – dedicated to her family, her Church and her community. She was an active volunteer with United Church Women’s groups and the Chilliwack Salvation Army soup kitchen and thrift store. Phyllis was predeceased by her husband Larry, her sister Mollie, her daughter Sandra (Mike Savich) and her grandson Steven Savich. She is survived by her loving daughters, Sharon (Darrell Lowry) and Heather (Brian Rich); grandchildren – Kathy Lowry, Michelle and William Savich, Mercedes and Alan Rich; her extended Regina family, Scott Lowry and sons Kelly and Kristopher, Jennifer (Dave Evanochko) and daughters Lily and Ivy; Kristina Lowry and her daughter Serena. The family wishes to express much gratitude to all those who helped make Phyllis’ later years comfortable and enjoyable – especially the staff of the Montmarte Health Centre and the Regina Lutheran Special Care Home. Funeral Service will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Friday, January 8, 2016 at All Saints Anglican Church, 142 Massey Road, Regina, SK with Rev. Dr. Trish McCarthy and Pastor Dennis Fingas officiating. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations to a charity of your choice would be appreciated. Interment of ashes will take place in Chilliwack in the spring.
