Yvonne, age 95, passed away peacefully on Friday, October 23, 2015 at Pioneer Village, Regina, SK. She was born December 5, 1919 in Toronoto, ON but moved to Saskatchewan as a young girl. Predeceased by her husband Tom, her parents, a sister, a brother and a granddaughter. She is survived by her children: sons David (Joanne Berger) and Greg (Barb) and daughter Heather (Jorg) Loewenhardt; grandchildren Jolene Loewenhardt (Julio Carranza), Tyler (Brie) Loewenhardt, Jennifer (Adam) Dodge and Scott and Laura Ellis; and great-grandchildren Sadie and Thomas Dodge and Mia Carranza. Yvonne attended Luther College and Central Collegiate in Regina. As a young woman, she worked at Bird Films Ltd., a family-owned business where she learned all aspects of the photography business. She met her husband Tom in 1943 when he brought film into the store to be developed. They married in 1946 and would have 47 years together until Tom’s passing in 1993. She was an avid Roughrider fan and held season tickets on the 50-yard line for many years. She was a lifetime member of IODE and worked tirelessly for many charities. Yvonne could always be counted on to pitch in and volunteer wherever she was needed. She was an active member of St. Luke’s Church and held many positions there. Yvonne worked for the Kinsmen Concert Series and the Centre of the Arts Box Office. She loved the arts, dancing and musical theatre. In 1982 Yvonne and Tom formed TYE Productions, which produced many musicals over the years and gave both young people and seniors opportunities to showcase their talent. Yvonne was still tap dancing at the age of 85 in The Golden Age Variety Show. In 2003 Yvonne was nominated in the Arts category for the YWCA Women of Distinction Awards. She was inducted into the Margaret Woodward Memorial Saskatchewan Theatre Hall of Fame in 2004. Over many years Yvonne made an exceptional contribution to the arts community of Regina. Family and friends will lovingly remember Yvonne for her kindness, gentle spirit and her zest for life. A Memorial Service will be held on Thursday, October 29, 2015 at St. Luke’s Anglican Church, 3233 Argyle Road at 2:00 p.m. with the Reverend Michael Bruce officiating. Flowers are gratefully declined. Friends so wishing may make donations to The Alzheimer Society of Saskatchewan or to a charity of their choice. The family wishes to acknowledge the many caregivers at Pioneer Village for their kindness and support.
